With Black History Month coming to an end for some, I decided to highlight a person who I feel does not get as much recognition for his accomplishments and his work as some of the other African Americans who are recognized. Gordon Parks was a photographer, musician, poet, activists, and film director who was known for taking captivating photos. He also directed the 1971 film Shaft.

I sat down and interviewed my grandfather about his journey through art and the various art he collects. I look up to him more than he may think. He tells my mom that I remind him of how he was at that age. He's a great supporter of everything I'm trying to accomplish in life, and always has great advice to give. Thank you for your support.

Picked up this book over the holidays from Urban Outfitters. Its the complete Wu Tang manual. Only got through the first chapter so far, but it's interesting reading about how the wu tang clan formed and what they truly represent.

This past friday I had the opportunity to go to the first show of the Watch The Throne concert. Bought a ticket that friday for $75.00 and with a little help from my people, I was able to get a much closer seat. Kanye and Jay-Z put on a great show performing for almost 3 hours straight with no opening act. Both artist performed songs off their solo albums along with performing almost every song off the Watch The Throne album. Once again I wasn't allowed to bring my camera into the Phillips Arena so all I have is the ticket I purchased to see the show, but it was an epic night to say the least.

I'm always wanting to take photos, shoot videos, and update the site. In the past it was hard for me to balance both my site and school work. Today marks the official 2 year anniversary from when I started www.fresh-cool-dope.com. As I've said before I started the site just wanting to have a blog, but I believe it has grown into something much more. I really appreciate everyone who's supported fresh-cool-dope, it really means a lot to me. Especially all the artist who have allowed me to shoot their music videos and the individuals who let me interview them. With graduation right around the corner I've realized that I'm going to have to slow down on the blogging a bit, and focus on this last semester of school. I will still post my work occasionally but as far as regular updates every other day, its going to stop. Again thanks for all the support and taking the time out to check the site.
